• Scented greeting cards. Scent equals memory. Scented greeting cards are an excellent way to engage the emotions of the recipient of the card. Greeting card ideas for scents include using a tiny amount of the appropriate pure essential oil such as rose, lavender, lemon. To scent your handmade greeting card simply place 2 drops of the oil onto a piece of blotting paper or cotton wool and place this in a self sealing bag with the greeting card for about 48 hours. The card will be delicately scented when you take it out of the bag.
• Don't just stick to paper cards Use your imagination and think of interesting items to use for greeting cards. Old game boards are already folded to the right shape, a message in a bottle, create a puzzle, a picture frame, a bookmark, a calendar, a fridge magnet.
• Go green. Be environmentally aware and create a green greeting card using recycled paper, pressed flowers and leaves, feathers and natural inks.
• Make your envelopes unique. You can turn your envelopes into works of art. Decorate with stencils, rubber stamp images, puncharts, ribbon, embellishments, use decorative scissors to trim the flap or dry emboss on the envelope.
