- Make a part of the greeting card removable. Include a special token that can be removed and used. For example a recipe card with a
delicious recipe, a Christmas ornament, a bookmark, fridge magnet, key chain. One of the best examples of this greeting card idea was a pair of pretty earrings stuck through
the ears of the picture of the girl on the front of the card that could be removed for wearing!
- Include a beautiful verse. If you can't find the words to write the right verse use a relevant quote or part of a poem. Just acknowledge the
writer under the verse. A thoughtful greeting or verse makes a card special.
- Use pressed flowers. Pressed flowers or leaves are one of the prettiest handmade greeting card ideas. Not only does the card come
alive with color but a greeting card made with real pressed flowers is ideal for framing as a small picture.
- Scented greeting cards. Scent equals memory. Scented greeting cards are an excellent way
to engage the emotions of the recipient of the card. Greeting card ideas for scents include using a tiny amount of the appropriate pure essential oil such
as rose, lavender, lemon. To scent your handmade greeting card simply place 2 drops of the oil onto a piece of blotting paper
or cotton wool and place this in a self sealing bag with the greeting card for about 48 hours. The card will be delicately scented when you take it out of the bag.
- Don't just stick to paper cards Use your imagination and think of interesting items to
use for greeting cards. Old game boards are already folded to the right shape, a message in a bottle, create a puzzle, a picture frame, a bookmark, a calendar, a fridge magnet.
- Go green. Be environmentally aware and create a green greeting card using recycled paper, pressed flowers and leaves, feathers and natural inks.
